OPETH Frontman Performs With DREAM THEATER In New York City; Video Available

May 26, 2008

Fan-filmed video footage of OPETH frontman Mikael kerfeldt joining DREAM THEATER on stage at Terminal 5 in New York City on Thursday, May 22, 2008 to sing a part of the song "Repentance" can be viewed below.

OPETH is currently supporting DREAM THEATER on the Progressive Nation 2008 Tour, also featuring BETWEEN THE BURIED AND ME and 3.

kerfeldt had the following to say regarding his DREAM THEATER guest appearance: "I did a little guest spot with DREAM THEATER on the second New York City show. Sang a verse and a chorus for the song 'Repentence', which is an awesome song. Thing is when I got on stage my mic was switched off and the crowd could enjoy me singing without hearing a word. The Port [Mike Portnoy] and the rest of the DREAM THEATER guys played it over again so I could sing it with sound as well. I was literally dying up there! How embarrassing... yet, it was great fun and at least I got to sing it in the end. Great cheers for me too, which I appreciate, of course."

Mikael added, "Axe [OPETH drummer] and the other drummers did a drum solo with the Port on the first night which was a gas! We got it all on film, as well as my own 'performance'... might make it available sometime... or maybe not!"

A number of great photos of "Percussive Nation 2008" the drum jam featuring DREAM THEATER's Mike Portnoy, OPETH's Martin "Axe" Axenrot, BETWEEN THE BURIED AND ME's Blake Richardson, and Chris "Gartdrumm" Gartmann and Joe Stote from 3 from the May 21, 2008 concert in New York City can be found at this location.
